The Milky Way in West Cork

  1. Shot this from Sheeps Head in West Cork a few weeks ago on an incredibly clear night with the Miky Way rising over The Mizen Head Peninsula. The moon setting aligned perfectly to the Milky Way core coming above the horizon. Rare enough to get conditions like this in Ireland!

  2. So i always wondered how clear is the milky way to the naked eye ? Obviously the photo is done up a bit

  3. Amazing photo! Thanks for all the hard work to turn this into a stunner and for sharing with us all!

I live 2.5 hrs away from a dark sky reserve (Stanley Basin, Idaho/USA) and love those nights where the Milky Way is so bright you can almost see the ground…always wished you could see the colors with the naked eye…

  4. Fantastic.

What gear do you need to capture a shot like that? If one has a tripod and decent dslr what else do you need?

  5. Maybe cuz of the king exposure… but what’s the big circle down by the waterline on the shore? the moon? … not trolling just caught my eye and wondering what it is

  6. does it look like that to the naked eye, or is it special camera exposure?

edit, seen its already answered. thank god for technology.

  7. I’ve only witnessed that a few times in my lifetime and it’s truly spectacular, you captured it perfectly 👌😊.
