  1. Meanwhile, just trying to open this page:

    We value your privacy..

  2. Irish government continue to speedrun every issue no one asked them to solve

  3. Everywhere all at once

I’ve never had much time for conspiracy theorists but it is so plain to see it’s not even a conspiracy. Golden age of the internet has been over for a while but the next age is gonna be so shit. Enjoy it while it lasts

  4. The beginning of the end of free speech as we used to know it.

  5. Everyone hated Denmark’s privacy-invading ideas, therefore Ireland will continue them…

  6. They just can’t handle not knowing every single bit about you. I shouldn’t have to identify myself on the Internet just like I don’t have to identify myself if I participate in a protest

  7. This would be hard to impossible to implement in practice. Anyone can VPN to any country these days where Ireland has no jurisdiction.

  8. Good luck. In the era of VPNs and all kinds of shitfuckery, this is one of the things that are definitely not happening. How about policing your fucking coastlines a little better?

  9. We have maybe 2 years maximum left of a somewhat free internet in Europe. Was fun, as I’m going offline the day Wikipedia asks for my ID and reason fr visiting, the internet is a free space, noone tells me what I can say (try me UK) or what content to consume.

  10. I don’t understand, aren’t these the kinds of things that happen in Russia’s terrible, authoritarian, and controlling dictatorship?

  11. Soon I’ll change my VPN to china because the internet over there will be less restricted.

  12. I used to make fun of conspiracists but slowly im realizing they were right

  13. I’m from Belarus, where you can go to prison for criticizing the government, but even here anonymous accounts and VPNs are not banned.

  14. One thing for sure about he Irish government is that they are full of shit and can get nothing done. They have a metro project in planning since 1976. 😂

  15. I’m so glad i moved to Switzerland where something like this would be subject to a national vote. Really not liking the direction the eu is moving in

  16. r/europe would become a dead sub if it happened across europe

  17. What the fuck is going on on those islands over there… you’re going totalitarian? Learning Newspeak already?

  18. Its wild, all the stories of people being forced to surrender details of their social media when trying to enter the US gets rightly criticised on this sub but when our own governments look to do the exact same – only to their own citizens, plenty of people running around acting like it is necessary.

  19. Another nail in the coffin of what was once a free internet, unless its kiddy porn or terrorism governments should stay the heck away

  20. Europe in 2030 = China but without the industries, infrastructures and with insane living costs

  21. From the government that brought you “The National Health Service getting Hacked Amidst a Global Pandemic”

Comes their all new project “Dox Everyone Legally” 😂

This is a /j, I know there is more depth to it, but sounds like a stupid idea

  22. Seems like a coordinated attack on anonymity in the EU (and UK).

    Why?

  23. Sorry but Real ID is not the solution to the problems of social media

Social Media is the problem with Social Media. The buck starts and stops with the people running these sites.

Start holding them accountable. Since that’ll never happen let’s just go blame The Poors for all the problems of the world

  24. End of free speech in Ireland.

If everything you post online is linked to you, the only safe thing to do is post nothing.

Otherwise you could be cancelled years later, for expressing a viewpoint which was acceptable/legal at the time. Or find yourself unemployable because of your political views.

Of course that is the point. Politicians hate the plebs being able to talk about them and criticise them. This will put the plebs back in their place.
