It wasn’t as though they weren’t already somewhat in the same lane before 2022. But today, this is more like a “water is wet” statement. Lavrov could not say anything else or China would cut Putin’s purse strings and halt all exports to Russia. Putin’s war ends a day after China ends trade with Russia.
It’s not like Russia is able to say anything else
They’re basically a Chinese puppet by now
sure, by the way how is that 3 day special military operation going for them?
As a Taiwanese, Can I say the same thing regarding Russia the so-called “pro-Palestine” people say all over Reddit about Israel without being banned?
The only real news here is that Lavrov is alive.
China doesnt even need their help.
Russia takes over Ukraine, China takes over Taiwan, USA takes over Venezuela or Greenland…
There is a plan on going, an it’s just for oligarchs to have more money.
Just like they support Venezuela
Translation: “Pwease help us to finance the war against Ukraine, master Xi!”
Russia became a vassal state of China some time ago. Russia will do whatever their masters decide because they have no other option. China lost a lot of land to Russia in the 20th century, and they share one of the longest borders in the world. Russia is financially dependent on China and if they don’t support China, the consequences could be dire. They have also moved a lot of military assets from the East to fight the war in Ukraine, so it would be very easy for China to reclaim historically Chinese territory.
Of course as there exists so much hyped strategic alliance in between Moscow and Beijing. What increasingly lookes like system wherein one is vassal state to its larger patron.
Anyway, that setup does not give much to choose what to say except what Beijing wants its client states to say.
It’s more a subtle dig and reminder to China of it’s obligation to Russia, using Taiwan as a foil.Â
The reason China wants Taiwan is to secure its eastern flank so it can expand north and west.
