  1. My memories of this fallen bastion of commerce:

    – Used to work in moy park when I was 16 or so … god awful!

Saturday and Sunday early morning shifts … abysmal… but parents insisted … fair enough

A few mates worked there too, in different departments, and I’d get a lift in with one of them

I got into the habit of getting up and getting picked up by my mate to go to work, but instead I skipped it and hung out alone in my mate’s car in the car park, smoking hash and sleeping off the night before while they did their eight-hour shifts.

Every so often I’d get bored and walk to portadown and get a bus home at a time that wouldn’t make my parents wonder why I was home so early.

One day I did this beautiful scenic walk it was still early … like 9am or earlier. I went to the high street mall and the shops weren’t open yet, but the mall itself was and builders were working on the extension out the back.

Anyway, it was Baltic, I was stoned and I wanted somewhere to warm up. So I went in and headed straight to the toilets down the back. I then went into one of the cubicles sat down in the relative warmth and comfort of one of the bogs and pretty promptly fell asleep to the sounds of banging and drilling

When I woke up the whole mall was jammers, there were people using the sinks and shitting beside me and my legs didn’t work anymore.

When I regained my bearings and the control of my legs I walked the portadown Main Street, went to the pound shop and stole a vhs copy of menace to society before heading home to my unwitting parents.

    – I also met Nightshade from gladiators there and had my photo taken with her and my wee bro at a signing

  2. I worked there as an apprentice when it was being built 30 odd years ago. I remember walking around that raised bit and we’d get told off if we didn’t have our harnesses attached. Strange to see it abandoned.

I don’t think I’ve been in Portadown since!
