THEY GOT A PHISHING EMAIL SAYING THAT THEIR AMAZON PACKAGE WAS DELIVERED TO THE WRONG ADDRESS AND THAT THEIR ACCOUNT WAS COMPROMISED AND THAT THEY OWED MONEY. SO INVESTIGATORS SAY THE COUPLE BEGAN SENDING THE SCAMMERS MONEY THROUGH BITCOIN. WESTERN UNION AND APPLE CARDS. THEN THEY ALLOWED THE SCAMMERS TO ACCESS THEIR COMPUTERS AND THEIR ACCOUNTS. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said a couple was scammed out of a quarter of a million dollars.The Hickman, Nebraska, couple, in their 80’s, got a phishing email saying their Amazon package was delivered to the wrong address and that their account was compromised and they owed money, authorities said.According to investigators, the couple began sending the scammers money through Bitcoin, Western Union and Apple cards.They also allowed the scammers access to their computers and their accounts, officials said.”The one thing is the ATMs, they try to get to the ATM. So that is the key thing.
