  1. Weirdly worded headline, easily misinterpreted, but I get it… a global phenomenon these days, btw, speaking from experience.

  2. The top 10% are always going to have a lot and the bottom 10% not a lot. It’s the people in the middle that I’d be more concerned with rather than the headline grabbing figure.

96.6% of households having some form of savings is pretty decent.

  3. CSO statistician: “In terms of wealth, the median provides a truer reflection of the average household as it is not influenced by extreme values.”

Headline writer: “Fuck that, I’m using the average then”

  4. Once you have about 100k in savings and investments your wealth begins to snow ball with compounding interest especially after about 15 years..

Unfortunately a lot of people can’t afford to invest to get the ball rolling but I’m pretty sure that this is a feature of capitalism because who will work in the shops and factory’s if all it takes to be wealthy is to put 100 euros a week away and not spend it for 30 years

  5. Thats me! I’m in the top 10%! My 5 bedroom house is worth €790,000 alone (A Neighbours house with a garden half the size of mine sold for that sum this year) l have another €200,000+ in prize bonds and €30k in the Bank plus another €50k in assets! That’s great to know im up there with the well off,l guess im officially a Millionaire!? Get in! 😊
