They could have just stayed put in their adequately-sized, taxpayer-funded* home that had already been secured.
*Adelaide Cottage and its furnishings were both originally paid for by taxes setting aside how the Crown properties currently function to the detriment of taxpayers.
And yet any old tourist can walk right up to the gate at Buckingham Palace
Whenever governments and Scotland Yard want to excuse the inexcusable about the RF, they claim it’s for security. If you look at the exclusion zone map that the Daily Mail published, it makes no sense. The house is very close to the perimeter except on one side. It has nothing to do with security and everything to do with keeping away the plebians that pay the bills.

Oh, so is there some threat to royals or something because when Harry talked about security concerns he was laughed at by the British.
I don’t buy this. Royal lodge has been a royal home for decades and you can get a lot closer to it via the back. You can even get a pretty clear view of it too. You can walk right next to the huge gardens with “just” a fence separating it. I have seen some dogs escaping from the gardens in the past!!
“National security”
It’s some kind of bullshit. They didn’t need yet another forever home let alone one outside the security zone. They stole public land and cost taxpayers a fortune by having this new home outside the security zone
You can get much closer to Balmoral where queen Elizabeth used to meet other family members.
This is about Williams well known focus on privacy. He wants nobody to be able to see who is helicoptering in and out.
It’s more of an exclusion zone than that of Sandringham or Balmoral or Highgrove where the actual monarch resides.
What do they have to hide?
I wonder if new threats were detected? The article quoting a former Security Chief specifically highlighted terrorist threats.
