The law also says you could be done for criminal damage.
What will really happen; he can keep your deposit and it’ll go to arbitration with the tenant deposit scheme. Then he’ll get to keep it because you’ve been a knob. Feel free to fight it in court if you hate money.
Would this actually work? Like I’ve heard some diabolical stories about revenge on shitty landlords, but not this level of diabolical
That’s not pettiness, it’s praxis. Provided he’s correct about the law, anyway.
Actual way to do this; put up nails at intermittent distances that would allow you to use them as hooks for wall art including mirrors, frames, pots etc. That way you have a reason for the nails that you can use to defend yourself against a criminal damage charge.
For extra points, borrow frames and wall decorations from friends and family and host an event where multiple people individually take photos to ensure you have several non-nail-related entities taking photos that show the wall fully decorated in the background, which can be used to confirm that they were all necessary and served a purpose rather than just your word.
Sprinkle chia seeds into the carpet and spray a fine mist.
You didn’t hear this from me.
Most landlords find a way to keep the deposit regardless
Good luck getting the deposit back
tbh, Right? It’s like paying for a front-row seat to your own financial disaster. 😂

Regardless of the law, your friend is a prick.
Good man. 👏
Oh, but think of the poor landlords……. 🙄
… does the law say that? 🤨
Tis my back scratching wall
Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Landlord tears having a sense of humour failure
So landlords can’t actually tell you that you aren’t allowed to put up shelves/picture frames????
The sort of renters who lose their deposits are the sort of renters who get their legal advice from memes.
Tell me you helped him, because if I had a friend doing that I would give them a hand 😂
