1. All this guys has to do to succeed is not mess up in any major way. If he does, no one will be electing anyone that far left for a while. If he doesn’t, he can serve as an example

2. He will accomplish absolutely nothing because at the end of the day, he’s a democrat — a party completely captured by corporate interests.

3. I think people go about it the wrong way. He can have an impact but it will take a while before any mitigation does happen but he can start creating a serious budget to offer initiatives that will invest in a sustainable city like more gardens, less car dependencies, local food production with urban settings, better water management, etc. These projects take time but they can bear fruits in the future.
