Interesting contrast: memorial for people killed by EOKA B during the coup in 74, with Greek flag waving above (Fikardou)

  1. The truth is the flag of the people killed was the Greek flag(our flag meant nothing

Let’s look at the positive side, EOKA B is considered a terrorist treasonous organisation by the majority of the GC community, not only by the GC left.

  2. EOKA B doesn’t really represent us, the Greek motherland. It’s the false idea of a now-senile Grivas who wanted to achieve his goal of enosis at all costs. We didn’t go around ordering the executions of Greeks. I don’t find it surprising that the Greek flag is waving there.

  3. Well in perspective the Greek state was under military junta and the actions of those people where endorsed by the us and the uk to set up their divide and control end game. It’s like blaming the people of Georgia for Stalin’s actions. Also inspite of the “free minded”/””progressive”/leftist/turkish propaganda in this subreddit the last documented opinion of the people of Cyprus was the 1950 referendum which union with the Greek state was deemed victorious. I can also write my own personal opinion that the shit we are in is in much as Makarios fault and his grand ego to be a political and religious leader of the island. He took advantage of his religious role to empose a Pope like persona (won like most dictators all elections with +90%) and when the risk of losing power was real he called turkey to invade in order to restore him.

  4. definitely see your point lol, these comments ain’t it, may the day that cypriots find comfort in their own land and identity come asap

  5. We have a legal right to use the Greek flag as part of the article 4 of the Constitution. It’s a simple distinction, the Greek flag represents our identity/history/legacy/ethnicity and the cyprus flag represents the nation. We can still use the Greek flag even in such situations.

  6. Article 4

the President and the Vice-President of the Republic.

created by or under the laws of the Republic shall fly the flag of the Republic and
they shall have the right to fly on holidays together with the flag of the Republic
both the Greek and the Turkish flags at the same time.
    3. The Communal authorities and institutions shall have the right to fly on holidays
together with the flag of the Republic either the Greek or the Turkish flag at the

public, whose members are citizens of the Republic, shall have the right to fly on
