I’m waiting 3 years to see a public urologist in St James. I’m told it could be another 5 years before I’m seen.

Vigo Health only covers consultations. Tests and treatments could be hundreds if not thousands.

Beacon Hospital said they can’t privately see me then refer me publicly for treatment.

St James said they can’t fast track referrals from private consultants.

St James said my GP can send them another referral, detailing my issues getting worse, and rhey might be able to see me sooner. So I’ve asked my GP to do that.

I also saw on the HSE website the NIPHS scheme (link [here](https://www2.hse.ie/services/niphs/before-your-healthcare.html#get-prior-authorisation)). I’m wondering if anyone has used this scheme before, how it went for them, any tips on what to do/avoid.

Appreciate any advice/help!

  1. I haven’t used the scheme but I have travelled up north to see a Urologist there.

Went via the Kingsbridge hospital and the reason I’m posting at all is to let you know that they had quite a busy practice dealing with the treatment purchase fund.
They may well have more info on how to avail of the treatment scheme?

I hope you get sorted however it pans out.
