Sounds really enforceable, and I’m sure that’ll encourage them to change their mind.
It is hard to have compassion for the unvaccinated when I hear their arguments not to get vaccinated. Absolute lack of understanding that there are thing that have to be done. There is still at least 30% of adult population that could easily get vaccinated, but refuse to do so because of their selfish attention seeking reasons.
If they were like, for example, portuguese people we wouldn’t be here.
How to enforce this? Police now have the right to stop anyone and ask for their papers?.. or you have to walk around with a big color coded QR code on your shoulder?
Great, well done!
A disgusting breach of civil liberties.
This is heavy. I hope we (in Italy) will not have to come to this. At this point however, after two years of this tragedy and with the solution of a free vaccine for everyone, I dont see real alternatives to increasing the pressure on the no-vaxxers.
It breaks my heart though, both to think of what is going to be for those people, and also to think what our democracies are being forced to impose on their citizens.
So now all citizens have a digital record dividing them into two categories, one with full rights and one with reduced.
Anyone who cannot see this as being ripe for abuse is not thinking logically. Do not let fear or anger govern your better judgement. “Fully vaccinated” status (essentially “person who gets rights”) could be unreasonably digitally revoked from you at any moment and you’d have absolutely no recourse.
This has already happened in Israel, France for purposes of boosters but it could be done for any other much more corrupt reasons e.g. abuse of journalists critical of the government. I mean for goodness sake, if during the Ibiza Affair this weapon had been lying on the table for the most powerful people in the country then would it have been used as blackmail? *”We’ll unvax you unless you shut up and don’t release the footage we know you have”*?
There is also nothing stopping the government from extending it to include other “undesirable” traits of your character to inform your rights. There’s no proper limiting principle here, once the system is up it will almost certainly not ever go away for real. It will forever loom large over your life. Seeing people ok with this is mind boggling. Your rights are now a flag on a database.
This is a really, really bad direction to go in. Yes, you’ll squeeze a few percent of unvaccinated people who will now *hate* the government for life, *hate* the people who did this to them and it’ll radicalise those who were hesitant so much more. What’s your next step then, round them up for prison camps?
This is the trust equivalent of dropping a nuke on your society, it’s inviting a kind of hate and division that will not be recovered from for an incredibly long time. It’s unethical beyond belief.
Braindead move.
Apparently people under the age of 12 are exempt. Imagine being a healthy 13 years old and being told you can’t leave the house until you get jabbed for a vaccine you don’t need. Disgusting.
The headline sounds much stricter than the actual regulation.
The home may be left for important errands, to go to work and for recreation. Unvaccinated people are allowed to go for a walk or hang out in the park. They are not allowed to go bowling or visit a club.
Really good move.
I would add some others:
– Fire all unvaccinated public workers.
– Make being unvaccinated a legal reason for firing people in private businesses, so they can be fired with any compensation.
– Unvaccinated people don’t get covid treatment in public hospitals.
– Private hospitals can choose if they accept covid patients or not.
– Make a legal change so covid treatment is not covered by private insurances (unless they voluntarily decide so), so they will have to pay everything themselves.
Some people still don’t get in their obtuse minds the huge damage covid has made to the world, both in terms of dead people and economy-wise.
They don’t get the huge amount of money that was invested in developing the vaccines, unprecedented in history.
These selfish people don’t realized that if we all refuse to vaccinate, like they don’t, hospitals would collapse and life and economy would stop again, just like in early 2020. These selfish people rely on every one else being vaccinated.
To be honest, they deserve what they’ll get.
How is this any different than a covid passport? It’s really not
This how democracy dies, to thunderous applause.
I still don’t really understand why you couldn’t supplement not having a vaccine with proof of a negative test? In terms of going to the pub for example..
