If approved as filed, customers with an annual usage of 98,400 cubic feet of gas would see an increase from $87.18 to $93.13 per month, or by 6.83% beginning August 1, 2026.

Customers of National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation, also known as National Fuel, could see a higher natural gas bill beginning partway through 2026 and into 2027.
The company announced the news in a news release on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, indicating that National Fuel had submitted its annual “Purchased Gas Cost Filing”, as required by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC).
If approved as filed, customers with an annual usage of 98,400 cubic feet of gas would see an increase from $87.18 to $93.13 per month, or by 6.83% beginning August 1, 2026.
The Purchased Gas Cost Filing includes a projected cost of gas supplies that National Fuel plans to purchase and deliver to customers between August 1, 2026, and July 31, 2027.
According to the release, during this period, National Fuel is projecting an increase in overall gas supply charges totaling about $71.49 per year.
The main reason for the proposed increase is due to the costs associated with the purchase and transmission of natural gas are expected to be higher than the current rates.
Customers are advised in the release that the forecast is for prices to be experienced in the 2026-2027 winter season, and must be reviewed and approved by the PUC before going into effect.
Additionally, if the increase were to be approved, pricing would be adjusted on a quarterly basis to reflect any changes in the current projections to the actual market prices at the time of the change.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is also noted to be available for customers in need. Eligibility for the program is based on income and household size.
Grant amounts vary from $200 to $1,000 and will be provided while funding remains available.
