  1. Did you enjoy the bit where they put an advert for an American film in the middle of it

  2. If you’re one of those who’re lucky enough to jostle for a place in the front row what would you do when you need to pee and lose your spot

  3. Someone chose this moment to give me deveststing news. It’s not even like u can say next year will be better when it’s so far away. Sorry for the self pity but I think this year’s fireworks are ruined for me

  4. What a thoroughly miserable bunch people are in this thread. Happy new year to the rest!

  5. Careful as they can cause cancer! The sparkles can effect the eyes and n brain

  6. Looked great, definitely an experience you will remember seeing it that close up.

  7. That looks sick OP. I don’t think I have it in me to wait outside for that long but it does look incredible. Sorry for all the grumps in here

  8. I watched it from the comfort of my heated living room window.

  9. Did they mean to set them all off at the same time? You’d think they’d want the show to last longer than 20 seconds.

  10. I believe they used a fuck tonne of fireworks to achieve this effect, coincidentally it also cost one fuck tonne of cash.

  11. hehe, 25 years ago we used to go to Battersea Park to watch the Nov 5 fireworks…nowhere near a station, buses all full, bunch of walking standing around. By comparison back then was like someone setting of a rocket from a milk bottle compared to today.

  12. This may actually be London’s best fireworks display.

I wish that this time of year wasn’t so cold, I personally can’t take it.

So I need to be indoors in the warmth. But this would have been worth the wait.

Glad you got to see this up close. My dog has also become adverse to the noise so I think if they are planning on banning public fireworks for shows like this. I’d certainly sign the petition.

  13. That actually looks incredible. Going off of twitter youd think id was the worst fireworks display ever

  14. I sat in my living room with a nice single malt and watched it from the comfort of my armchair. I did this a couple of time previous, once in the Hotel behind the London eye when it was the 2nd time I think at this location, watching from a fire escape which was amazing, we tried it again but they shut that all down – no standing on the fire escape. Another year we roughed it in the crowd but that was pure hell, no toilets, bastard freezing and rife with pickpockets. I much prefer it at home, or watching it at a pub etc.

  15. Meanwhile, I watched it on the telly with my friends and a glass of champagne in hand.

No shade on those people who went in person, I bet it’s an amazing experience. I just couldn’t be arsed with the crowds these days.

It was a great display this year, with a wonderful message. Glad you had a good time, OP.

  16. Wow that looks absolutely shit, how much did the underground and event tickets cost? They were both free last year

  17. I bought a ticket to view it but couldn’t be fucked getting there before 10:30

  18. I slept for 8 hours at home instead of going anywhere near that

  19. There’s a lot of miserable cunts in here. Yeah, obviously it was cold and crowded. Just because you wouldn’t have done it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a great experience for OP.

  20. Looks amazing (although since 2012 London has been doing a fab job when it comes to this sort of thing!)… sounds like you invested plenty of time and effort into the experience so I hope you loved every second and it’s a great memory for you ❤️❤️❤️

  21. I remember when I was a kid and watched the firework display in different major cities around the world, and thought the residents of those cities are so lucky, because they can see it live.

I’ve been living in London for 15 years and not once have I gone to see the NY firework display 😅

  22. This is gross. You hardly get to see anything. Defines the word overkill

  23. It seems that the last 10 or so years the organizers just give the brief “more = better”

  24. Nice.

I went last year and mostly enjoyed it even though I had to linger about a fair bit

  25. I have seen it live twice OP, it’s really overwhelming (in a good way!) isn’t it? I’m glad you had a great time – Happy New Year!

  26. NGL, I was hoping this was going to be one of those videos like where people wait for ages for the Hogwarts express only for their view to be blocked by a commuter train going the other way.

  27. Shame about the Wicked movie advert rammed in at the end

  28. WOAH! I saw it on tv and it looks way better on this video !!!!! Lucky you! Happy new year 🥳

  29. Can we stop literally blowing money up whilst people can barely afford to turn their heating on?
