Germany’s centrist establishment has long scorned the far left, but it is increasingly reliant on leftists to outmaneuver the far right in crucial votes in Parliament.

1. There is nothing “centrist” about the current German government nor is the SPD “center-left”, their descriptions as such are not only misleading, it’s [straight up gaslighting](https://www.politicalcompass.org/germany2025) based on USdefaultism.

   Same with the Greens as allegedly “leftist”, they are not, and the way Die Linke is going I won’t be surprised to also see them move further to the right. Which might even get them into a government at some point, but by that point there will be little to nothing left of their original leftist positions, very similar to what happened with the Greens.
