Very sad to read that Petesy Burns is no longer with us.

As a member of Stalag 17, FUAL, A-Political, Shame Academy, The Outcasts among others, his legacy in NI punk music is firmly cemented.

But just as importantly (if not more so) was his work in places like The Anarchy Centre, The Manhatten, and Giros/Warzone Centre helping to build and nurture an alternative way of life in Belfast during severe conflict. Eternal respect for that.

He's interviewed extensively in the 2010 documentary on Giros.

Lest we forget.

  1. Never knew him but saw him supporting Steve ignorant and his enthusiasm seemed infectious

  2. Thank you for posting this, I didn’t know this doc existed, it seems pretty interesting so far!

Many hazy drunken memories from Giros circa 2001 onwards.

I still miss the cat piss smell, and the microphone that would always give you the electric shocks.

Never knew Petesy but he seems like a good guy in that doc.

  3. Absolute gentleman! I met him years ago in Dublin when I was involved in the gig scene. Shocked and sad to hear of his passing. My condolences go out to his family and friends. One of the greats.

    R.I.P.

  4. Sad news, an absolute gentleman, a lovely fella and a great musician. Condolences to his family and friends.
