With the arrival of warmer air masses, temperatures will rise on Friday and snow will gradually turn to sleet and rain, with thawing also expected in some places, according to forecasts by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The day will start with cloudy weather and occasional precipitation. The snow cover in some places, mainly in the east, could increase by a few centimetres.
There will be a slow to moderate south-southeasterly wind, which will be gusty at times on the coast.
The maximum air temperature will be between -2 and +4 degrees.
In Rīga, clouds will bring occasional precipitation and the air will warm up to +1 to +2 degrees, making the weather damp. There will be a slow to moderate southeast, south wind.
