Hyatt has announced an expansion plan for Portugal, with four new hotels scheduled to open over the next two years. Building on recent openings in Lisbon and Madeira, Hyatt is expanding in key business centres, holiday destinations, and emerging cultural hotspots across the country.
The goup said its planned growth is a response to Portugal’s evolving hospitality landscape and increased foreign investment, with upcoming properties including the debut of two lifestyle brands – Andaz Lisbon and The Standard, Lisbon – both expected to open in 2026, as Portugal prepares to welcome a record-breaking number of visitors this year.
The expansion also includes two Hyatt Regency properties, with Hyatt Regency Vilamoura Algarve situated near the Vilamoura Marina and championship golf courses, while Hyatt Regency Cape Verde Sal will mark Hyatt’s first hotel in the Cape Verde archipelago.
“Portugal continues to be a key focus for Hyatt’s brand growth in Southern Europe. Combining rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes and modern infrastructure, the country is increasingly attractive to both leisure and business travellers,” said Helena Burstedt, regional vice-president, development, Iberia, Hyatt.
“Meetings and events are a key driver behind our growth in Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking regions. Together with Hyatt Regency Lisbon, our new properties in the pipeline – including Andaz Lisbon – are strengthening our ability to serve business travellers and group demand in a meaningful way. Guests can expect a diverse range of spaces and experiences, from room capacities ideal for small to mid-size MICE groups to rooftops, terraces, gardens and outdoor areas perfect for social events, wellness programming and private functions,” said Burstedt.
