They are saying that the people living in the communities around Brussels, should be asked if they want to join up with Brussels. The reasoning behind is that the whole BHV split was a terrible mess that was a purely political split, not based on what people living there wanted at all.
And since Flanders is pretending that Brussels is the “capital of Flanders”, and that Flanders is heavily in favour of cities merging, I propose they give Brussels the merging bonus of 50 million euro as well, provided one of the towns around it wants to merge. I mean, the inhabitants of Borsbeek weren’t even asked about it when they got annexed by Antwerp, they were just a tool to get that 50 million for BDW’s budget…. So a village around Brussels voluntarily joining Brussels, seems a lot more fair…
Integrate Zaventem, then instruct the airport to stop using the flight paths over the city. Boss move!

Brussels has a major tax problem because they need to maintain the country’s largest city but the people who make the most money in Brussels live, and thus pay taxes, in “de rand”. Vlaams- and Waals Brabant. Evidently this is major contributing factor to why Brussels has such shit infrastructure.
