Anyone who believes they were contacted by or experienced financial loss due to Charles Spencer Burri or Burri Asset Management LLC is asked to contact authorities.
ANKENY, Iowa — The Ankeny Police Department is asking residents of the surrounding area to contact authorities if they believe they are the victim of a “cryptocurrency investment scam” connected to a person investigated and arrested in Missouri.
According to Ankeny PD, the Columbia Police Department in Missouri contacted the Iowa agency about a fraud investigation that led to the arrest of Charles Spencer Burri.
Missouri officials said Burri is the owner and operator of Burri Asset Management LLC. He is also accused of soliciting money for “cryptocurrency investments.”
After receiving money from victims, Burri allegedly quit responding to them, “resulting in significant financial loss.”
Authorities in Missouri alerted Ankeny police that during the investigation, it was found Burri met with individuals in Ankeny and the Des Moines metro area in July 2025.
Ankeny police believe there are victims who have yet to come forward to report suspected crypto fraud by Burri, and encourages them to do so by calling the police non-emergency line (515-286-3333 ext. 5) and filing a report.
