Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in northern and southern Ukraine overnight into Jan. 3, launching 95 drones, most of them Shahed-type, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.

According to the Air Force, the drones were launched from multiple directions in Russia – Millerovo, Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk – and from Russian-occupied Crimea, including Kacha, Chauda, and Hvardiiske.

“About 60 of them were ‘Shaheds,’” the report said. Ukrainian air defenses reported shooting down or suppressing 80 drones, while 15 strike drones hit eight locations, and debris fell at two others.

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, said parts of the region were left without power.

“Since night, energy workers have been carrying out restoration work. There are no casualties,” Kim wrote on Telegram.

In northern Ukraine, drones struck civilian non-residential premises in the Shostka district of Sumy region, the State Emergency Service reported.

“Non-residential premises where civilian vehicles were located suffered significant destruction followed by fire. A large-scale fire broke out. Rescuers eliminated all sources of burning. No information about the injured has been received,” the agency said.
