They have failed to hit every house-building target since they have come to power. Why would they start trying now?
Business as usual then for the Tory government. I feel the road the Tories have gone down is absolutely littered with broken pledges and promises.
300k houses a year isn’t enough anyway. But they, or their property owning donors, have an interest in not lowering house prices.
His interview this morning was utterly bizarre.
If a Labour member had performed like that in an interview they’d be pilloried on the front pages of the right wing rags.
Colour me shocked.
Gotta keep inflating the bubble and propping up the market somehow.
>Confronted again on whether the Tories would meet the pledge, he said: “Well we are going to everything we can but it’s no kind of success simply to hit a target if the homes that are built are shoddy, in the wrong place, don’t have the infrastructure required and are not contributing to beautiful communities.
>
>”Ultimately when you are building a new dwelling, you are not simply trying to hit a statistical target. I’m certainly not.”
That bit I actually agree with him on. Given the fact that our new housing stock doesn’t even hit recommended baselines for today in energy efficiency, climate adaption and build quality. It’s stupid to degrade regulations further and flood the market with crap. It wouldn’t solve the issue anyway.
Of course, with us scrapping the house build target. I can’t wait to hear the Tories announce their new pledge to solve the problem through a massive social housing plan and severe restrictions on second/third homes and buy-to-lets (which have a much, much greater impact on housing shortages).
Afterall, that would be some proper levelling up. Rather than the bullshit we get like railway station facades being upgraded…
I’m sure that’s what is coming from the ‘Party of Common Sense’…Right?
Once again creating scarcity and continuing the perpetual need for housing price inflation because it’s become an investment market
It’s so frustrating as the solution is so obvious a child can figure it out, but thr Tories will never do it as it goes against everything they believe.
This country needs a massive social housebuilding plan done for the benefit of the people who need them and not for the benefit of a wealthy minority.
>”I don’t want us to be tied to a Procrustean bed”.
Which for those not familiar
>arbitrary standard is used to measure success, while completely disregarding obvious harm that results from the effort.
Obvious harm…300k homes.
And its such a mystery why they sleepwalked us into a cost of living crisis
He also proposed letting people VOTE on if their neighbours can build an extension.
What a *fucking atrocious* idea. There is already a sufficient avenue for neighbours to provide input in planning, it’s just going to weaponise neighbour disputes.
He should have given his answers firstly in his normal voice, then in a silly high pitched voice.
Good for the environment though.
The funny thing is that if you read the Tory manifesto it is so barebones in the first place but I doubt most Tory voters have done anyway
Do the Tories need to ditch their pledges?
They are written in invisible ink on toilet paper then flushed away the moment they are excreted!
Did anyone watch Gove today? Clearly on another coke bender, it was utterly bizarre.
We live in a behavioural insights crafted cartoon, of deceit and lies. A pantomime of democracy distracting from a reality of endless austerity and thievery. From Cameron onward it just been a free for all of fraud and misappropriation. (BLAIR WAS A WRONGUN AS WELL, BEFORE IT ALL GETS RED V BLUE)
With a billionaire owned media and captured state media. We are fed an endless series of lies in the interests of those with the power.
Every aspect of UK life from the civil service of white hall, The orgs that used to exist to hold power to account, the charites that have morphed in to gov service providers mcmillan cancer uk mind age concern etc. The unions that are run by PMC types that go along with the bougie status quo.
The labour party that is imploding under the QC knighted establishment stooge. The parliamentary system has been completely hijacked no one is accountable How the hell do we have The ex Health secretary Jeremy Hunt going from Health sec to the chair of the health select committee? where he is still. They wheel him out now as some sort of voice of reason on these matters. without batting an eye to this nefarious situation. Any expectation that the likes of jon ashworth or wees whatevs is functioning opposition is laughable.
All I have seen my entire adult life is jam tomorrow thievery and war.
Until we can realise that we are atomised by power in a pavlovian divide and rule cycle. We are lost. We need unity of the people. It should be our number one mantra. Not the current one which is to be led by the nose from one divisive issue to the next. From brexit to Rwandan migrant plans its there to divide us not to provide realistic equitable outcomes.
We are always told that we are the 5th largest economy. But all we have done over the last 40 years is privatise monetise and destroy things that used to be the envy of the world.
the manifesto was only to sucker in the votes……and it worked a treat.
Is there any form of accountability for parties which do not even attempt to deliver on their manifesto pledges? If not, what’s the point?
Are there any pledges they have fulfilled?
Who is still voting for these cunts!? Are people fucking morons?
The UK population is increasing and the UK housebuilding is….

Decreasing??
At this point I’d only be satisfied if 300,000 homes were built at the entrance to his orifices so that Pob might finally shut the fluff up.
another lie to forget about later
