Queen Mary of Denmark gave royal regal dressing a new level of elegance in combined pieces by designers Jesper Høvring and Lasse Spangenberg for New Year’s Day celebrations at Christian VII’s Palace in Copenhagen on Thursday.
Denmark’s queen consort wore an ornately, delicately crafted lace top by Copenhagen-based designer Spangenberg, featuring long flowing sleeves with a cinched cuff and a high neckline complete with sheer fabric and botanical inspiration throughout.

The top of Queen Mary’s look was coordinated with a skirt by Høvring. Another Denmark-based designer, Høvring’s skirt is a favorite of Queen Mary’s and has been worn by the royal on other previous occasions. With a champagne tone, the skirt complemented the sheer, delicate fabric of Queen Mary’s lace top.
A belt at the waist added further silhouette definition to the overall look, elevating Queen Mary’s attire from regally royal to modern elegance. To accessorize her attire, Queen Mary added historic jewelry pieces from Denmark’s royal vault.

The country’s queen consort wore earrings from the Danish crown diamond parure, which she paired with the rose-cut diamond bandeau tiara. The diamonds featured in the tiara have been in the Danish royal vault since the 1700s, and it was Queen Mary who commissioned the jewels to be designed into the simple tiara, per The Court Jeweller.
Since ascending the throne alongside her husband King Frederik X in January 2024, Queen Mary of Denmark’s royal wardrobe has included looks echoing tradition and nods to the Danish royal family’s history alongside modern feminine touches, power suiting moments and contemporary takes on occasion dressing, among other trends.
