Nationwide Uprising- No. 17
Clashes in Malekshahi and Kermanshah; Security Forces Open Fire on People Amidst Courageous Youth Resistance
On Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, Tehran and various other cities across the country were the scene of nightly demonstrations, hit-and-run clashes, and confrontations with suppressive forces. The defiant populace, responding to threats made by the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, on Saturday morning, took to the streets chanting ‘Death to Khamenei’ and ‘This is the year of blood, Seyyed Ali will be overthrown.’
In Tehran, people demonstrated in various areas including Shahr-e Qods, Shahriar, Pirouzi Street, Haft-Howz in Narmak, Naziabad, Tehranpars, Sadeghieh, Nezamabad, Coca-Cola, and Shahr-e Ziba. In Naziabad, a large crowd demonstrated, chanting ‘Death to the dictator,’ and a brave woman carried a placard that read, ‘I am not a rioter,’ in response to Khamenei’s baseless remarks. In Haft-Howz, Narmak, youths confronted mercenaries who had fired tear gas. Students at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University also protested, chanting, ‘Basiji, IRGC, you are our ISIS.’
In Malekshahi, Ilam province, demonstrations by residents led to bloody clashes. Criminal IRGC guards opened fire on the people, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of many defenseless citizens. The brave youth of Malekshahi retaliated by defending themselves and clashing with the mercenaries. The so-called Martyrs Foundation, the headquarters of the State Security Force (SSF), and several banks were destroyed. Reports indicate a shortage of blood for the wounded at the city’s hospital. The names of four martyrs from Malekshahi whose identities have so far been confirmed are: Mohammad Moghaddasi (Bazvaneh), Farez (Fars) Aghamohammadi, Mehdi Emamipour, and Reza Azimzadeh.
In Kermanshah, particularly in the Jafarabad neighborhood, intense clashes occurred between residents and suppressive forces, with the sound of gunfire heard in parts of the city. In Harsin, rebellious youth set fire to the regime’s seminary of ignorance and crime.
In Mashhad, demonstrations took place on Kolahdouz, Felestin, and other streets. Rebellious youth set fire to the motorcycles of suppressive forces and blocked the streets while chanting, ‘This nation will not be a nation until the mullahs are buried.’
In Shiraz, demonstrators on Amirkabir Street blocked the path of suppressive forces by staging a sit-in, while youths in the Golshan area blocked roads by burning tires. In Delijan, youths set fire to a loathed statue of Qassem Soleimani, and in Khash, an SSF kiosk was torched.
Additionally, demonstrations and clashes continued late into the night in the cities of Karaj (Fardis), Isfahan, Yazd, Rasht, Sari, Amol, Bushehr, Yasuj, Hamedan, Zanjan, Qazvin, Arak, Gachsaran, Rudsar, Lahijan, Eqlid, Neyriz, Firuzabad, Zarqan, Koshan and Ma’ali Abad (Shiraz), Azna, Bushehr, Jowayin, Abdanan, Mehran, Hafshejan, Arak, and Sari.
