Luxembourg’s Air Rescue was deployed in transporting injured victims of the Swiss fire which broke out on New Year’s Eve.
The Swiss president declared a national day of mourning on Friday 11 January to honour the 40 people who died in the devastating fire, as well as the over 100 people left injured.

The Valais canton prosecutor has initiated proceedings against the two proprietors of the ”Le Constellation’’ bar where the fire took place. They stand accused of involuntary homicide and causing arson and bodily harm through negligence.
On Sunday, Luxembourg’s foreign ministry confirmed the Luxembourg Air Rescue had been activated through the European civil protection mechanism, transporting a patient from Payerne in Switzerland to Leipzig on 2 January, and a second patient from Zürich to Berlin on 3 January.

The Swiss authorities also confirmed a young Luxembourger had sustained minor injuries in the fire.
