ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – With subzero temperatures blanketing Anchorage throughout the weekend, the effects could be seen with a quick look downtown.
Alaska’s News Source observed that many stores that were open downtown had few customers, and the roads and sidewalks were even more empty.
Alaska Fur Gallery was an exception.
“Normally, we’re not open on Sundays, but we are right now because we’ve been so busy,” Owner Malena Hausinger said. “It’s unusual for us to have this cold of a snap, so yes, we are selling a lot.”
Alaska’s News Source reached out to multiple other businesses downtown who declined an interview on the effects of the cold.
