A pedestrian has been seriously injured follow a hit-and-run crash in downtown Toronto on Sunday night.

The collision happened near Queens Park Crescent and St. Joseph Crescent, south of Bloor Street West.

Toronto police said they were called to that area around 8:40 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

They say the driver did not remain at the scene.

Police said the pedestrian was taken transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are describing the suspect vehicle as a dark grey, newer model SUV.

Currently, northbound Queens Park Crescent is closed at St. Joseph Street. Police are asking motorists to consider alternate routes.
