I guess that languages greatly influence this. From Nevada you can easily go and work in California, and retire in Florida. Not the same thing if you are born in Hungaria, to work in the Netherlands, and retire in Spain.
Basically true. Luxembourger, for the most part, is something you *become*, rarely something you *are*. And even among those who *are*, their parents seldom were, and their granparents even less so. The number of people who can trace 3-4 generations back to born-Luxembourgers is extremely, extremely small (maybe only the Grand Ducal family & their friends?)
