Prince Harry may be one step closer to regaining official armed security when he visits the U.K.

According to People, insiders say there are “positive” signs coming from the British government regarding the Duke of Sussex’s security being reinstated. Sources are cautiously optimistic after an official review reportedly found that Harry, 41, meets the criteria for taxpayer-funded protection.

The review was conducted by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which includes representatives from the Home Office, Metropolitan Police, and the royal household. People notes that the full-scale assessment was granted in December after years of campaigning and a failed court appeal.

There is growing belief that, unless there is a last-minute objection, Prince Harry will be granted the armed security and institutional support he had while serving as a working royal.

On January 4, The Mail on Sunday reported that a source close to the Sussexes claimed, “It’s now a formality,” adding that security is essentially “nailed on.”

If approved, the decision could open the door for Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, to visit the U.K. Harry has previously said he doesn’t feel safe bringing his children, or wife Meghan Markle, without proper protection.
