Grant Shapps claims ‘not partying’ Boris Johnson was mourning his mum – a year before she died

  1. * But he _was_ at an illegal gathering? Was he fined for that?
    * An illegal gathering he seemingly initiated? What he fined for *that*?

The “party” bit is neither here nor there. Even him being in pre-emptive mourning is an irrelevance.

  2. Even if it was the case, no other cunt got to have a large gathering to mourn someone’s passing. Rules were broken, he lied to parliament and he needs to go.

  3. It’s like they know they’ve fuck up the country and now want out. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a general election soon.

  4. They’re laughing at us. They know that we know they’re lying, but they don’t care as long as they can dismiss it and cling to power long enough to ransack the country’s resources to stuff their pockets.

  5. Grant Fapps has more mouth than a cows got c***, he still was gathered with people during lockdown restrictions. Why must this country run on brainless and dangerous blind aligence.

  7. Well I think think this looks suspicious. He knew his mum was going to die. Sounds like he was planning it. Looks like murder to me.

  8. > he goes and thanks somebody who’s leaving, he raises his glass to them.

I genuinely don’t understand. That was specifically illegal. Why is he offering it as some sort of defense? It makes no sense.

We had people leave where I worked too. We didn’t raise a glass because it was illegal.

  9. Even is it was true, “normal” people were not allowed to mourn their mothers.

This excuse is even more insulting than no excuse at all. What a bunch of utter cunts.

  10. So according what Shapps said we were allowed gather for end of day work drinks?

News to me and the rest of the population I’d say!

  11. This reflects so badly on where we are as a culture that ‘we’ (probably not you and certainly not me) vote for such a entitled group of self centred liars.

  12. Not just bare faced lies.. but a disgusting pre-text, in the sense they would know that regardless of the occasion there were no wake/reception gatherings for funerals at this time, so even if they had got the dates right he would still be breaking restrictions

It was just a conveyor belt, machine like experience, where by if you were even fortunate enough to be amongst the handful permitted to attend a funeral, there was no gathering after the main ceremony, you simply went back home or to work.

  13. Nobody else was allowed to mourn people in a group. He literally made all in-person social interaction illegal. So I have no sympathy for him here.

  14. They’re just taking the piss now, I bet they have a bet as to who can make the most ridiculous statement and get away with it.
“Oh yea Shapps got away with a beauty today, extra buggering for you”

  15. Why can’t they just admit it? Why do they keep coming out with more convoluted excuses?

They could just say, yeah we had some drinks after work, fuck you.

  16. What I’m amazed at is that there are seemingly no protests or riots, why? They broke the law, ruined the lives of people that were punished by that law and are now running the country into the ground. Why is nothing happening?

  17. My beautiful, hilarious, infinitely kind friend killed herself last February. Lockdown had just worn her down, and none of us knew how much she was suffering behind the brave face she was putting on.

I went to her funeral over Zoom. Tomorrow, I’m finally going to the memorial her family organised for her.

  18. If Boris Johnson needs to go to the country to ask for support, and to ask us to make sacrifices, no one will follow him. THAT is what continuity will deliver.

The irony is that at this time of crises, that scenario may happen, but it is actually the very reason that Tories are saying he must stay.

  19. > It was only a matter of time before you revealed your true self, LORD FORESIGHT, if only I’d seen it sooner!

    >> Ah, Captain Hindsight, I’ve been expecting you.

    > It’s no use, this is the end for you, you must resign!

    >> I’m afraid not, you must surely know you’ve failed every time you try to topple me.

    > I made mistakes in the past, Foresight, but looking back I know how I could have done it better. But with the power of hindsight I’m prepared for our showdown today!

    >> And yet it still won’t be enough, I have forseen it already. As we speak, my sidekick “Tabloid Boy” is working his magic, you can either stop me, or save your own skin…

    > No… how could I have been so clueless

    >> Hurry and make a choice, Captain Hindsight. I’d say choose wisely, but I know you’ll regret your choice as you always do… mwuhahaha!

Will Lord Foresight be stopped in time? Is it another missed opportunity by the Captain? Will he FINALLY overcome his flaws and make the right choice? Find out next week!

  20. Lying comes so naturally for these Tories. For the good of the nation we need a government with decency and integrity.

  21. Can we also, as we are already at it, get rid from taxpayers subsidizing meals and alcoholic drinks for those ”work events”?

  22. Other people were mourning relatives too. And lots of them managed to not break the rules.

    Lies, Prevarications, Sophistry.
