Oath-taking ceremony for joining a military-patriotic club in Brest, December 29, 2025.

As the Belarusian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty writes

In the regions of Belarus, ceremonies of taking an oath by children joining military-patriotic clubs, created on the initiative of Belarus’s Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov, continue.

Such solemnities occurred in Brest, as well as in several districts of the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions. According to regional publications, the country already has about 160 military-patriotic clubs, uniting over 5,500 school-aged boys and girls.

The ceremonies follow a single model. The venues of the celebrations are museums or historical sites connected with World War II, with the Belarusian authorities usually using the Soviet name ‘Great Patriotic War’ (1941–1945).

Locations and Participants of the Ceremonies

The ceremony in Ushachy took place at the Museum of National Glory, in Brest – at the Brest Fortress, in Belynichi, Mogilev Region – at the local Art Museum, in Rossony, Vitebsk Region – at the Museum of Combat Brotherhood.

Representatives of local internal affairs bodies take the oath – heads or deputies for ideological work and personnel management.

Along with the certificates, the children are given the Club’s Code of Honor, a document that enshrines the principles of honor, discipline, patriotism, and personal responsibility that underpin the service and civic stance of the future defenders of the Fatherland. At the end of the ceremonies, local Orthodox priests perform a blessing rite for the formation.
