The Trump administration sued two California cities for banning natural gas hook-ups in new buildings, claiming the local laws limit consumer freedom and “deny consumers reliable, resilient, and affordable energy.”
The Justice Department lodged its complaint Monday in the Northern District of California against Morgan Hill and Petaluma, Calif. President Donald Trump last year issued an executive order asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to focus on state laws targeting topics such as environmental justice, climate change, and greenhouse gas emissions.
