Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to urge Americans to consume more saturated fats. A saturated fat is one that stays solid at room temperature like butter, beef tallow, cheese, lard and coconut oil.
The guidelines will also urge Americans to eat less processed foods and recommend consuming whole foods and more fruits and vegetables. It’s not immediately clear the full scale of guidelines that will be announced.
Meanwhile, press secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a briefing at the White House at 11:00 a.m. EST. Other cabinet officials will be on hand to answer questions.
