Nationwide Uprising- No. 27
A desperate attempt to justify a crime against humanity
On the morning of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, following a nationwide merchants’ strike in Tehran and clashes between residents and state mercenaries in the city’s central streets, Special Unit forces conducted a criminal raid on Sina Hospital in the Hassanabad area. They fired tear gas, surrounded the hospital, sealed its entrances, and trapped patients and medical staff inside.
Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, the regime’s Health Minister, attempted to justify the raid on Sina Hospital, stating, “Our information indicates that no tear gas was fired inside Sina Hospital. However, investigations must certainly be conducted. Whether it is said that tear gas was fired inside or outside Sina Hospital makes a difference, and it must be precisely investigated” (ISNA, January 6).
The management of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, to which Sina Hospital is affiliated, announced yesterday: “The State Security Force (SSF) used tear gas in the process of dispersing the protesting crowd… some of these substances entered the hospital premises.”
While the regime’s officials attempt to cover up the crime at Sina Hospital, new details are emerging about the raid by Khamenei’s forces on Khomeini Hospital in Ilam. The state-run newspaper Ham-Mihan, in a January 7, 2026, article titled ‘From Ilam to Sina,’ wrote about the attack: “Security forces wanted to enter the hospital by force… Witnesses say the protesters did not have firearms or cold weapons… After a peaceful march, they were shot at.” The article added, “At that moment, I saw four people who were shot and killed… About 50 people were injured… The agents took one of the wounded, who was bleeding from his ankle due to a bullet wound, with them without receiving treatment.”
Terrified of public anger and the consequences of the crime, the regime’s representatives assembly in Ilam and the city’s representative in parliament shed crocodile tears and promised to follow up, while regime president Masoud Pezeshkian ordered an investigation.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations Security Council and its member states, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Council, and other international human rights organizations to strongly condemn the assaults on hospitals and the abduction of the wounded by forces under the command of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and to take effective measures to prevent these crimes.
