Moldovan president, in discussions with Ukrainian head of state, says Moldova stands with Ukraine, to continue to cooperate closely
Moldova stands with Ukraine and will continue to cooperate closely. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect at a today’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on the sidelines of the event dedicated to the launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Maia Sandu said that she had discussed with the Kyiv leader issues of regional security, international efforts to restore lasting peace in Europe, European integration and the bilateral agenda.
“I had a meeting in Nicosia with President Volodymyr Zelensky. We discussed regional security, international efforts to restore lasting peace in Europe, European integration and our bilateral agenda. Moldova stands with Ukraine and we will continue to cooperate closely,” Maia Sandu wrote on the X platform.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also issued a statement following the meeting with Maia Sandu. According to him, “the common path of Ukraine and Moldova toward European Union accession must be coordinated.”
“The common path of Ukraine and Moldova toward EU accession must be coordinated. We are working closely on this issue, and today I discussed it with President Maia Sandu, focusing primarily on the simultaneous opening of the first negotiation clusters,” the Kyiv leader said.
President Maia Sandu on January 7 participated in the official launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event, hosted by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, brought together European officials, including President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
