“The price of petrol is affordable in rich Switzerland”. Ueli Maurer.
Speak for yourself you idiot.

Ueli Maurer is a complete joke.
He should retire as soon as possible and stop making a fool of himself, he an embarrassment for the whole country.
He’s right, in rich Switzerland, the alternative country consisting of major cities full of white collar workers with a salary beyond the average and median COMBINED
news flash: SVP politicians are out of touch and don’t care about you if you’re not a millionaire. also they really like the taste of putins boots for some reason
All I hear is „I earn too much for mis-representing Switzerland.“
I mean I can afford the gas prices, although it hurts to fill the car at the gas station and we don‘t drive it every day to get to work…so it’s ok. As such remakes demonstrate, some of the BR have lost their touch with the people they are representing – obviously!
I guess UEli would talk differently when on a CHF 5‘000 salary with no further expenses (e.g. paid 1st class GA) and being dependent on your car on a daily basis to make a living. Why not grant his wish (being too rich) and cut his privileges?
Manche Politiker sind irgendwie total abgehoben und komplett weltfremd ..
But he isn’t wrong? Even at the quasi-minimum wage of 3500 CHF you earn like 7 liters of petrol an hour. That’s like 50% more than the super-cheap petrol in the US, and 600% more than in India.
It’s still way too cheap and if we had to actually pay a fair price for it, it’d probably have to be like 5-10 CHF/liter.
The price of petrol should be a wake-up call at this point, not a call for denial.
This statement doesn’t align with the party’s policy. The party is working hard to reduce taxes on fuel, this guy is so detached from the reality.
A car costs tens of thousands to acquire, hundreds for insurance, but if filling up your tank costs 10 franks more you can’t afford it anymore?
When it comes to gas prices, all rationality is out the window. People get super rabid about it.
Let’s say 5 liters per 100 km. Then a gasoline price hike of 50 cents per liter comes out to an additional 2.5 cents per km, and the price per km all things considered is on the order of 50 cents per km (that’s what an employer tends to reimburse you), that’s a 5% price hike.
