Traffic on national roads was taking place under foggy conditions, locally dense, with reduced visibility of up to 200 meters or less. Road maintenance crews conducted patrols and monitored all routes across Moldova, in order to ensure safe traffic conditions.
Meteorologists have issued a Yellow Code warning for ice, black ice and significant precipitation from January 7, 01:00, to January 9, 14:00.
Thus, on January 7–8, in the northern half of the country, and on January 9 over wide areas, black ice is expected, and icy patches may form on the roads. Additionally, on January 8, precipitation in the form of rain turning into sleet and snow is forecast, with significant amounts (7–15 l/m²) in the northern half.
At the same time, today, until 16:00, the Yellow Code for fog remained in effect across the country.
In the context, drivers were urged to exercise caution and responsibility, adapt their speed to road conditions, and ensure that their vehicles are properly equipped for winter.
