Born in Colorado, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, 37, was a mother of three who had recently moved to Minnesota, according to the Associated Press.

She described herself on social media as a “poet and writer and wife and mom,” and shared she was currently “experiencing Minneapolis,” posting a pride flag emoji on her Instagram account.

A Pinterest account under her name features photos of her smiling with a young child against her cheek, the AP said. The profile includes saved posts about tattoos, hairstyles and home decor.

Good’s ex-husband, who asked not to be named out of concern for the safety of their children, told the AP that she had just dropped her 6 -year-old son at school Wednesday and was driving home with her current partner when they encountered a group of ICE agents on a snowy street in Minneapolis, where they had moved last year from Kansas City, Missouri.

Shortly after, Good was fatally shot in her vehicle, with her partner close by.

The ex-husband described her as a devoted Christian who participated in youth mission trips to Northern Ireland, the AP reported. He also said she loved to sing and was in a high school chorus before studying vocal performance in college.

Good, who studied creative writing while majoring in English at Virginia’s Old Dominion University, won a prize in 2020 for her work, according to a Facebook post. She also hosted a podcast with her late second husband, Tim Macklin, who died in 2023, the AP said.

Good had a daughter and son from her first marriage, who are now ages 15 and 12, the AP reported. Her 6-year-old son was from her second marriage.
