THIS IS ALL PLANNED. YES, THEY WERE JASON AND ASHLEY, YOU’LL RECALL MARYLAND PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVED THIS INCREASE IN 2023. IT’S PART OF BG’S MULTIYEAR RATE PLAN. ACCORDING TO THE UTILITY, THE AVERAGE HOUSEHOLD WILL SEE ELECTRICITY BILLS RISE BY A LITTLE MORE THAN A DOLLAR EACH MONTH, AND NATURAL GAS BILLS WILL BE ABOUT $2.65 HIGHER EVERY MONTH. HOWEVER, THIS IS CONTINGENT ON USAGE. BUT THIS IS JUST THE FIRST OF SEVERAL PLANNED INCREASES COME FEBRUARY. ELECTRICITY RATES WILL INCREASE $0.72 ON AVERAGE, WHILE GAS PRICES WILL RISE NEARLY $2. THIS IS THE RESULT OF THE PSC PARTIAL GRANT OF THE PROPOSED B.G.E. RATE INCREASE, AND NOW THESE PRICES WILL LIKELY GO UP AGAIN IN MARCH. AND THAT’S BECAUSE OF A RULING FROM THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION. B.G.E. WILL BE ABLE TO DIVIDE SOME OF THE COSTS FROM WINTER AND SUMMER USAGE ONTO FALL AND SPRING BILLS.
