The NFL announced an agreement to make Betcris the league’s first official Latin American sports betting partner.
Details on the NFL’s Deal with Betcris
Betcris, a Costa Rica-based online wagering company, now has the rights and trademarks to promote NFL sports betting. This agreement covers Mexico, Central America, and South America.
Under the terms of the deal, Betcris will have rights to use official trademarks to promote its NFL sports betting offering and will also gain brand exposure on the league’s digital properties.
“As our fan base continues to grow in Latin America, it was important that we partner with a trusted industry leader in the territory,” Christopher Halpin, NFL executive vice president and director of strategy and growth, said in a press release. “Betcris’s capabilities in this important region, and its management team’s experience and commitment to the highest standards, made it clear that it was the right partner for the NFL. We look forward to working together to attract new and existing fans in these markets.”
Under the deal, Betcris becomes the official sponsor of the 2021 NFL International Series game in Mexico. Plus, Betcris is now a presenting partner of the NFL’s free-to-play Pick’Em game.
The deal with the NFL continues Betcris’ push into professional sports. In July, the MLB partnered with Betcris, which also offers gambling solutions for NBA gamblers.
“We are beyond excited to become the first official sports betting partner of the NFL in Latin America, and we look forward to further enhancing the experience for our users,” Betcris CEO JD Duarte said in the statement. “This represents the culmination of years of work to make Betcris a household name in Latin America. With this partnership, Betcris now enjoys a great competitive advantage that serves our long-term goals well. The NFL has proven to be an ideal partner throughout this process and we look forward to working together.”
NFL Continues to Grow Globally
The NFL is the most popular sport in the United States, and it has stayed that way under Roger Goodell.
However, the league is clearly becoming a global brand thanks to the NFL International Series.
The NFL predominantly played in the United Kingdom during the early days of the International Series. The NFL has expanded its horizons to play regular season games in Mexico, Spain, Germany, Ireland, and Brazil.
In 2026, the Los Angeles Rams will play the first-ever NFL regular season game in Australia.
It’s only a matter of time before Goodell pushes for a Super Bowl outside of the United States.
