  1. Can the driver get done for animal abuse?

    I hope so.

Edit: Initially, it appeared to me that the driver seen the birds and intentionally drover over it. If this is not the case then of course they should not be prosecuted.

  2. That really wasn’t pleasant at all, but I can’t see how the driver was supposed to see two seagulls having a squabble

I still feel ill about it though

  3. On a building site in Clonmel they used to put nails and thumb tacks into bread and feed the gulls and the scum were actually proud of what they were doing.

They might well have not been able to see the birds. Even if they did, you’d assume the birds would just fly away.

I fail to see how the driver is scum. They clearly weren’t trying to kill the bird.

  5. My first reaction is to think this person is a real piece of shit but I want to give them a chance.

I can understand being impatient and not caring to wait for 2 seagulls to finish squabbling but running them over as a first course of action is too extreme. Two things I can think of doing right off the bat are:

    1. Trying to slowly advance and see if they fly off or get out of the way
    2. Honking at the seagulls to scare them off

Personally, birds are my favorite animal so I would have gone as far as to step out to chase them off the road, but I get that not everyone is willing to do that. Maybe this person didn’t want to hold up traffic but clearly in the video there was little traffic. Maybe they were in a rush for somewhere important, that is something I cannot prove or disprove.

Despite the fact they could have needed to be somewhere important, I think it was an overkill first response. Clearly there were ways around this which this person chose to ignore.
