Anti-asylum protesters – and unity counter protesters – back for the 4th time in 8 days tonight

Anti-asylum seeker protesters are back tonight to shout outside Highfield House Hotel, in which asylum seekers have been placed by the Home Office whilst awaiting the outcome of their asylum applications.

It comes after protests last Friday (pictured), Sunday and last night, all of which saw significantly reduced numbers, of 20 to 40, compared to the turnout seen in the summer, of up to 100.

As with previous occasions, Southampton Stand Up To Racism will be holding a counter demonstration. The group will be meeting outside Waitrose in Portswood at the bus stop, before marching up Portswood high street and holding a counter-demonstration on the opposite side of the street, outside the hotel.

They said in a social media post: “Join us in unity to oppose hatred.”
