Emilia Romagna celebrates a 2025 marked by record arrivals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). Comparing the first ten months of 2019 with those of 2025, tourist arrivals from the DACH markets in the Riviera Romagnola grew by +29.2%, reaching 556,443 arrivals in 2025, while presences increased by +24.4% with a total of 3.3 million presences). Taking the entire region into account, the growth in arrivals of German-speaking guests in the same historical interval amounts to +38.7%, that of presences to +31.5%. In the region, arrivals from Germany in 2025 amounted to 650 thousand (+11%) with almost 2.9 million presences, from Austria there were 111 thousand arrivals (+8.9%) with about 3383 thousand overnight stays (+7.6%) and from Switzerland there were 266 thousand arrivals (+7.4%) with just over one million presences (+5.1%).
A success that is aimed at repeating in 2026. This is why the regional tourism promotion agency has launched a television campaign that will last four months with three commercials promoting the Riviera Romagnola as a family-friendly destination, including cooking lessons, a family lunch overlooking the sea, a dip in the Adriatic, cycling through a lush pine forest, a flight of pink flamingos, and the enchantment of the Byzantine mosaics, a Unesco World Heritage Site. There will also be campaigns for couples’ holidays and for young people. As part of this strategy, there is also a focus on seasonal adjustment and Easter, and the restart of the Munich-Rimini train, which stops in Cesena, Riccione and Cattolica, is brought forward to 2 April.
Alongside the TV commercials
To support the television message and its declinations, there is also an effective digital and social campaign, with themed reels and photo posts (the protagonist is also the family of the TV commercial), launched on the German-language pages of the Regional Tourism Promotion in November and which will continue until June (in just one month of activity, 940,365 impressions were recorded, with 338,800 interactions). in recent years, the German-speaking markets have recorded a constant growth in terms of arrivals and presences in our Region,” commented Roberta Frisoni, Regional Councillor for Tourism, Sport and Commerce, and today they represent a strategic asset not only in terms of tourist flows, with 27% of arrivals and 32.6% of total foreign presences, but also in terms of economic value for the territory, being able to generate more than a third of international expenditure. Underlying these results is a timely, effective and persuasive promotional action, which the Region has been carrying out for some time and which it has renewed for 2026, with a new spot full of sun, sea, nature and culture, featuring a real German family. Another important new feature of the 2026 promotion in German-speaking countries is the presence of the Riviera Romagnola as the only Italian seaside destination partner of Deutsche Bahn and protagonist in the communication campaign of the German railway company and its connection between Munich and our Coast”.
