Hey guys! Hope everyone is well.

So my boyfriend and I were interested in studying in Germany, specifially CompSci at THU, but were wondering about a few of the requirements.

So we are from South Africa, and are currently finishing up our IGCSE subjects and finalizing our choices for A levels. However, after looking at the requirements here: [https://www.daad.de/en/study-and-research-in-germany/plan-your-studies/recognition-gce/](https://www.daad.de/en/study-and-research-in-germany/plan-your-studies/recognition-gce/) As well as specific THU course requirements, we are a little confused, specifically with the inclusion of a langauage, in our case English. 😀

Firstly, on the THU CIS part of the website, it says English up to a B2 English is required, which according to what we found is IGCSE level. So then, as for uni requirements, its ok?

However, we also have to get our GCE accepted to Germany since its an international syllabus (to Germany). From there we went onto the DAAD website to try and see the requirements to get it accepted, but unfortunately this is where we get even more confused. At the top of the website, it lists it necesary to have taken a language to at least As Level.

This is relitively clear, (other than the fact that it is more than what the university even requires so that was a little confusing), but then if we scroll down to the bottom of the page, it seems there are different requirements?

If these are the requirements, then (again if we understand correctly), we would not need to take English to A level, but rather (and as it goes into a little further down), we would be good with Math, Physics and Computer Science. Either way, its all just a little confusing so I was wondering if someone could help while we finalize our subjects choices.

Personally, I am going to be taking English to A level regardless of if I need it or not, since I enjoy it, however my boyfriend is not in the same boat. He has a very logical brain, (as to why he is wanting to do Math, Physics and CompSci to A), so English, and specifically the analysing part of A-Level English really just does not click, and causes alot of stress since we are both used to being incredibly good at academics and achieving high marks, as well as understanding things pretty quick, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case here.

Anyway if anyone could help and perhaps clarify all these different requirements for us we would really appreciate it!

Kind Regards,
Elk. 😀
