German media have reported that 32 Afghan refugees who had received admission commitments have been transferred from Pakistan to Berlin.
Deutsche Welle reported on Saturday, January 10, that after months of waiting in Pakistan, the individuals finally arrived in Germany and are expected to be relocated from Berlin to other federal states across the country.
A spokesperson for Germany’s Interior Ministry said that the transfer of Afghans holding admission commitments has continued in recent weeks through multiple flights.
The program includes former employees of German institutions, their family members, and individuals who face the risk of retaliation by the Taliban.
Despite the suspension of the admission program in May 2025, the continued issuance of visas and the transfer of some of these individuals to Germany have been made possible due to domestic legal decisions in the country.
