ROME, 25 MAY – The Chamber of Deputies has given the green light to the ratification of the Quirinal Treaty between Italy and France.
The text, approved in Montecitorio with 352 votes in favour and 39 against, passes to the Senate.
The Treaty for ‘enhanced bilateral cooperation’ was signed last 26 November in Rome. It comprises a preamble and 12 articles, accompanied by an operational and adaptable ‘work programme’. Cooperation ranges from defence to immigration, from culture to common borders, from the economy to youth, from space to social and sustainable development. Of particular importance is the institutional framework of the new Italian-French cooperation: an annual intergovernmental summit will be organised to take stock of the implementation of cross-border cooperation and examine priority issues of mutual interest. For those interested in the Treaty, here’s the text (in Italian) https://www.governo.it/sites/governo.it/files/Trattato_del_Quirinale.pdf
That’s cool. Imho France should work way more with Italy and Spain rather than UK and Germany, which are more leaning to the USA anyway
Is this an elysee treaty except between france and Italy instead of France and Germany?
