Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said there is now “a conflict over Greenland,” calling it a decisive moment with implications that extend beyond the island’s future. She made the remarks during a debate with other Danish political leaders.

Denmark’s prime minister said on Sunday that the country has reached a “decisive moment” in its standoff over Greenland, after U.S. President Donald Trump once again raised the possibility of using force to take control of the Arctic territory, News.Az reports, citing India Today.

Ahead of meetings in Washington from Monday on the global scramble for key raw materials, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that “there is a conflict over Greenland”. “This is a decisive moment” with stakes that go beyond the immediate issue of Greenland’s future, she added in a debate with other Danish political leaders.
