European equities were set to open little changed on Monday as investors weighed geopolitical risks and concerns over the US Federal Reserve’s independence.
US federal prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell related to his June testimony before the Senate Banking Committee, while Powell has accused the Trump administration of pressuring the central bank to align with its policy preferences.
Geopolitical tensions also remained elevated as intensifying protests in Iran raised the risk of wider conflict, with President Donald Trump reportedly considering options for possible intervention.
In Europe, investors will watch Swiss consumer confidence data for December and earnings from Hornback Baumarkt and Knights Group.
In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures were flat to slightly lower.
