**James Stephen Wharton, Baron Wharton of Yarm (born 16 February 1984)**
Made a Lord at age 36, chair of the board of the independant Office for Students. He must have astonishing skills and experience in the field of Higher Education!
>Wharton joined the Conservative Party in his teens, and was made chairman of his local association at 18
>Wharton [was] elected as MP for Stockton South at the 2010 general election, making him his party’s youngest MP at the age of 26
>In 2019, Wharton took on the role of Campaign Manager for Boris Johnson in his successful bid to replace Theresa May as leader of the Conservative Party.
>In Boris Johnson’s 2020 Dissolution Honours List, James was selected for a peerage.
Oh.
[edit] Worth pointing out that soeone else interviewed for the role at the OfS was
> [the Master of University College, Oxford](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivor_Crewe), President of the Academy of Social Sciences, previously Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex and a Professor in the Department of Government at Essex.
But I guess that Wharton just showed more experience and knowledge of the education sector.
Tbh him being at the same event as a racist is a bit of a whatever, he doesn’t make the schedule. The real point is he supports Orban and was speaking at a rally for him.
>Senior academics of colour said Wharton’s participation in the event raised questions as to whether the OfS would effectively address racism in UK universities
Did the colourless ones not have an issue with it or?
