The Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador amid violence by Iran’s authorities against protesters. He announced the move on X, according to a correspondent.
The situation in Iran is causing us grave concern. That is why today I summoned the Iranian ambassador to Belgium to firmly condemn all violence carried out by the regime, the arbitrary arrests, intimidation, and internet shutdowns – everything aimed at suppressing the peaceful movement calling for democracy and the legitimate aspirations of Iranian men and women for a better life

According to European institutions, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said that she bans entry to the Parliament buildings for all Iranian authorities, including diplomats.

The European Union is considering additional steps against Iran’s authorities and is discussing the possible inclusion of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the list of terrorist organizations, according to the European Commission.
According to international sources, the unrest in Iran has become a serious challenge for the country’s leadership. The protests began in late December at Tehran’s Grand Bazaar after the decline in the national currency’s value, after which the authorities intensified repression and threatened death to demonstrators.
